Olympic Park
Whistler Olympic Park
Follow in the tracks of Olympians with a visit to Whistler Olympic Park. Located 30 minutes north of Squamish, the venue played host to nordic skiing and ski jumping events during the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
Now, adventurers of all abilities can experience the thrill and beauty of the Callaghan Valley with a range of winter activities, including cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, biathlon, and ski jumping. Surrounded by five spectacular mountain peaks, the views are as breathtaking as the activities within the park.
What to do
Cross Country Skiing
Clip into classic or skate skis and glide along 90 kilometres of groomed Nordic track in the stunning Callaghan Valley. Though the venue is fit for Olympians, there are plenty of trails for all abilities and ages—even some for dogs. Rentals are available in the Day Lodge, with a selection of lessons and camps for those who want to learn the basics or progress to the next level.
Biathlon
Try your hand at the Nordic sport, which combines the agility and speed of cross-country skiing with the precision and marksmanship of target shooting. This experience is unlike any other you’ll have on two planks, so take a lesson and ready, aim, fire.
Snowshoeing
Strap on snowshoes and wind your way between billowy snowbanks in the lichen-drenched forest to experience peace and tranquillity at a slower pace. This is the perfect activity for the whole family. Whistler Olympic Park boasts over 30 kilometres of marked snowshoe trails of varying difficulty levels, including dog-friendly routes. Visit the Day Lodge for snowshoe rentals. Tours with a knowledgeable guide are also available.
Tobogganing
The whole family will be giggling after a day of tobogganing at Whistler Olympic Park. Bring your own sled and helmet or borrow them, toboggan rentals are free with park admission. The toasty bonfire lit on weekends, holidays, and Wednesday evenings is the perfect place to roast your own marshmallows and sip a hot chocolate.
Dining
The cozy Day Lodge at Whistler Olympic Park has a fully-licensed cafe with light refreshments and snacks. The locally-inspired menu includes hearty soups, sandwiches, warming treats, and gluten-free and vegan options.
