Riparian ecosystems walk with SRWS and Kate Andy from SFU

Join in for a walk along the Chelem trail to learn about local riparian ecosystems and what creatures inhabit them.

Riparian areas surround lakes, estuaries, ponds, streams and rivers. They are transition zones linking aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. These zones are critical habitat for wildlife for sheltering, feeding, and rearing. It is estimated that 80% of wildlife species use riparian areas! Kate Andy is a masters student at Simon Fraser University. Her research used camera traps to survey how wildlife are using different habitats in the Squamish Area. Meet at the parking lot at the end of Spit Road to join the walk.
